Search current Folder

Search in current folder first before search all your Mac

Have you ever get frustrated because the search feature in Finder never automatically search in the current folder first. And even after having to tell Finder to search in the current folder, the search result takes over your current directory, making it harder for you to understand the context of your search

Not anymore with Salmon. Salmon smartly searches the current folder first, then automatically starts searching in your entire Mac, without you clicking any button. On top of that, you can always see where you are in Finder

Search by scope

Easy to know the scope of search results

Search in current directory. Search inside current directory. Search for folders on your Mac. Search for files on your Mac.

All these powerful searches automatically happen at each keystroke, making the whole searching experience feels zippy and comfortable. You always know which search results belong to which scope at the very first glance

Powerful Modifiers

Filter and order search results with only your keyboard

You can filter and order your search results by simply type in modifiers such as @file to filter only files, or @folder to filter only folders, or @kind:png to filter only PNG images, or @last:added to order files and folders with newest added date first

And those modifiers are chainable, which means you can construct powerful search query such as salmon @on-my-mac @last:added @kind:png. Which will search for png files with the name 'salmon' on your Mac and show you the newest added files first

Multiple Selection

Select multiple search results and highlight them in Finder

You can select multiple files at once, then double click or hit return key to highlight those items in Finder easily.

For example, to highlight all PNG files in Finder's current folder, you can simply search @kind:png, select all search results you want by holding shift key and click on the search results, then hit return key to highlight those PNG files in Finder
